Pupils begin studying in year 9 for a triple award GCSE which continues into year 10 and year 11.
At GCSE we study the AQA Chemistry Specification.

Students also have to complete 8 required practicals that may be assessed in detail in the exam. They are as follows:

- RP2. Titration
- RP3. Electrolysis
- RP4. Temperature changes
- RP5. Measuring rates
- RP6. Chromatography
- RP7. Analysis of unknown substances
- RP8. Water purification
GCSE Chemistry is examined as two separate papers, at the end of Year 11.
