    Train to be a Teacher

AGS has a long-standing tradition of actively supporting initial teacher training.  Over the years we have hosted a number of PGCE trainees across a variety of subjects and many of our own teachers have become subject mentors, having participated in training from Worcester or Warwick University.

Involvement in teacher training not only brings new people into the profession, helping with the well-publicised national teacher recruitment issues; it also has direct advantages for AGS.  It enables members of our teaching staff to develop their mentoring skills, provokes interesting discussions about pedagogy and keeps us in touch with the latest educational research through contacts at university.

We are pleased to be part of the Shires Teaching School Alliance along with seven other local secondary schools. This partnership between the schools and the University of Worcester offers the opportunity for people to train to teach through a one year post graduate programme.

There are still places available for next academic year. If you or someone you know would be interested in becoming a secondary school teacher, please email hello@shirestsa.co.uk or call 01527 852 478. You can arrange a visit to one or more of the schools, find out about the application process and the experiences and training the programme provides.
